Nationwide Children's Nurses Rally to Unionize for Better Pay, Safer Working Conditions

Nationwide Children's Hospital nurses are rallying to unionize for better pay, safer working conditions and fair sick leave.

The efforts publicly launched Sept. 15 with billboards at the intersections of Thurman and Parsons avenues and at East Livingston Avenue and South Nelson Road.

"We deserve better" displays at the top of the website page linked on the billboards, and includes a form for Nationwide Children's nurses to fill out to gauge support.

They also listed safety issues at Nationwide Children's Behavioral Health Pavilion as a concern.

“We have nurses who give their all to their young patients and families to ensure they get the care and attention they expect and deserve from a great hospital like Children’s," said Marian Ruff, a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Nationwide Children's. “We believe a union will give us a collective voice for better pay, benefits and safety."
