Over 300 Union Members Lobby At Ohio Statehouse During Ohio AFL-CIO Legislative Conference

Last week, over 300 union members were at the Ohio Statehouse to talk with state Representatives and Senators about issues directly affecting working families.

The Ohio AFL-CIO held its biennial Legislative Conference on May 21 and 22 where union members were briefed on important issues and legislative committee hearings before meeting with nearly 100 state legislators.

Members spoke with their representatives and senators about protecting against cuts to unemployment compensation benefits, restoring the fair school funding formula for our public schools to ensure every child has access to a quality education, protecting Ohio's amazing public library system from budget cuts and ending the practice of workers signing "no compete" clauses as a term of employment.

"Hundreds of union members came together as one in the capitol city to advocate for economic opportunities for all and workers’ rights,” said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga. "I want to thank the nearly 100 legislators from both parties that made sure to meet with union members from their district to hear of our priorities and share our concerns. We will continue to work with any elected official for common-sense solutions that improve the lives of all working people."
