Ohio AFL-CIO Endorses Sherrod Brown for U.S Senate
Democrat Sherrod Brown received the endorsement of the Ohio AFL-CIO last week. Brown who served three terms as one of Ohio’s U.S. senators, is running to return to the chamber in this year’s election.
“The Ohio AFL-CIO is proud to endorse Sherrod Brown for the U.S. Senate,” said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga. “Sherrod has never backed down from a fight to stand up for all Ohioans, no matter what part of the state they call home. Whether fighting for good jobs that expand the working middle class, securing earned retirement benefits, or taking on powerful special interests, Sherrod has consistently delivered for working families. He is guided by the values he learned growing up in Mansfield, and unlike his opponent, he will make the affordability crisis his number one priority. Ohioans deserve a senator who will fight every day for a worker-first agenda — not one who caters to the interests of billionaires.”
Brown responded to the endorsement.
“I have proudly spent my career advocating for Ohio workers and fighting against a system that is rigged against them. It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Ohio AFL-CIO,” Brown said. “Together, I worked side by side with the AFL-CIO to fight for the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans and ensure workers receive the full retirement benefits they’ve earned. Now more than ever, we need a Senator who will put the interests of working people first. I will continue to uplift the voices of Ohioans and ensure our unions have a seat at the decision-making table.”
