Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters Endorses Acton In Governor’s Race
Less than 100 days separate now and the election that will decide who becomes Ohio's next governor.
On Monday, Democratic candidate, Dr. Amy Acton, was in Cincinnati speaking to accept a key endorsement.
Officially backed by the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters, Acton pledged to fight for issues important to firefighters and union workers.
“It was leadership, proven leadership,” director of government affairs for the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters, Steve Stein, said. “People like Dr. Acton, Gov. DeWine and the hard work of our firefighters, EMTs and paramedics that responded to every single Ohioan, no matter where they live, those are decisions that are not partisan. Those are decisions about safety.”
Acton credited those workers who helped her during what she called a tough childhood in Youngstown, Ohio.
“I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the kindness of folks that run toward fires and not away,” Acton said. “If it wasn't for neighbors who would do things like pull my brother and I up on their front porch and feed us breakfast, just because they knew we were hungry.”
